Tropical Yoga Retreat

Good Morning Yogis,

Just Announcements today

playa yogaIts a go!  Inga and I have found the perfect location for our Tropical Yoga Retreat, and we are so excited.  Mark your calendars for April 8-15, 2017 and be prepared for a week of deep relaxation, play and nourishment at the Playa Bay Resort in Roatan, Honduras.  I bet you didn’t know that this magical island 40 miles off the coast of Honduras was even on your visit list.  Well it is now.  Imagine:

  • Yoga – twice a day, blend of yin and yang practices in the most beautiful yoga studio ever.
  • Meditation – why not sit quietly and let your mind settle to the sounds of birds and surf
  • Secluded white sand beaches
  • Snorkeling on the second largest reef system in the world
  • Kite Boarding for the beginner and the expert
  • Fishing – its a big deal there
  • Meals featuring the freshest fruits, vegetables and local seafood
  • Beach parties
  • Deluxe accommodations
  • Warm weather and water

You get the idea.  We’ve book the entire resort, which being respectful to the ecosystem only sleeps roughly 20, so you will have to sign up early to reserve your spot.  Click here for the full brochure.

DW-SingingBowlsThe other big announcement is that our Soundbaths with Daniella White at  River Tree Yoga continue to be a sold-out success.  Must be something about settling in for a deep svasana in the Pond Room while Daniella refreshes your brainwaves with the resonance of her crystal bowls, incredible voice and powerful gong.  I know that sounds super woo-woo, but seriously it is an inspiring and healing experience. Last night was the last one for the summer, but our next Soundbath is scheduled for September 21 – the Fall Equinox, so note that on your calendar as well.

Have a great weekend,

Shalom & Namaste,

Yoga for Real Bodies – March 22, 2015

Happy March Every Body,

This is a bit of a late notice.  I meant to get this announcement out before I went on vacation, but it just didn’t happen. Oh well, as it is, I am restricting the class size on this workshop to ensure super personalized attention, so maybe it is a good thing if every body can’t make it.

I will be hosting a workshop at  River Tree Yoga which I have been planning for quite some time and am super excited about.

Fall Newsletter; New Classes & Upcoming Workshop

Labor Day has come and gone, and so we bid adieu to Summer.  Here in the Pacific Northwest, our long warm days have been  filled with adventure, friends and family.  As we turn our attention towards Fall I hope you will carry the nourishing energy of the sun with you as the days begin to grow shorter and cooler.

For many of us, September brings a return to structure.  The kids are back in school and we can resume our regular routines, or maybe even begin new ones. What do you look forward to returning to?  What new routines do you seek to embrace?  How can your yoga help to strengthen your commitments to yourself and others?

This week, I return to my regular teaching schedule and look forward to seeing all of my students again.  I’ve missed you! Most of the classes will stay the same but I have added an advanced practice class on Tuesday evenings.  If you are looking to up-level your practice be sure to join me for this deep and expansive class featuring stronger asana variations and more time for pranayama and meditation.

To welcome the Fall, I will be hosting a workshop September 27, 1:00 – 4:00pm at River Tree on Structure and Dynamic Transitions of the Sun Salutations.

Holiday Greetings and Abundance for 2014

Solstice Fire

Solstice Fire

Happy Holidays Everyone

As we turn the corner from darkness to light, we look to the New Year and see so many opportunities for expansion and fulfillment.

River Tree Yoga continues to grow, serving an enthusiastic population of yogis who love the woods, nature and their practice in equal measure.  Yoga in the Pond Room has become a haven for many and our workshops an inspiration for all.  I will continue to teach Wednesday nights 6:30-8:00pm, and alternating Saturday mornings at 9:30am.

Mark you calendar for January 19th, 1:00 – 4:00pm for Foundation for a New Beginning, the first workshop of the year will focus on Ten Fundamental yoga poses – perfect for building your home practice and/or deepening your understanding of the poses you see so often in class.

Village Green Yoga has also expanded, adding more teachers and opportunities for learning across a broad range of yoga styles and techniques.  My classes continue to be popular with students frequently coming early to reserve their favorite spot.

  • Sunday Morning Vinyasa has grown to become such a warm and nurturing community of yogis, that we all look forward to the weekend, just so we can spend our Sunday mornings together yoga-ing, laughing and healing.
  • Monday & Wednesday morning’s Hatha Integration Class is the workshop class for the studio.  Come and explore your favorite asanas, practice pranayama and meditation. Study and Inquiry are the hallmark of this alignment-based class. So much to learn, so many ways to deepen.
  • Tuesday & Thursday Mid-Day Bliss/Gentle is just exactly that; a gentle exploration of posture and breathe, which is massages the mind, body and spirit. An hour of movement in the middle of the day – a beautiful way to renew and inspire.
  • Tuesdays and Thursday Evening Vinyasa Flow is a steady and playful sequence tuned to some awesome vibes, designed to get the heart rate up and the stress out.

I offer to all a bow of gratitude for your continued  support throughout the years.  It has been an honor and pleasure to be your teacher, as you continue to be my muse.

May the blessings of the season and the twinkle of bright lights bring joy and peace to you and your loved ones.

Shalom & Namaste

Yoga on Haloween? You Bet!

jackolantern_omHello Yogis,

Hasn’t October been a wonderful splash of color here in the Pacific Northwest?  I know it happens every year, but honestly, the beauty of Fall never fails to inspire me.  I have managed to tromp through the woods several times in the past two weeks, and have even found a few more mushrooms for supper, yum!

In case you were wondering, I am indeed teaching on Thursday evening, which just happens to be Halloween.  Seems to me, being strong and flexible and open is a good idea on the night when spirits come out to play.  And if you are planning on nibbling on that Halloween candy, then you had better come get your practice on beforehand to help stimulate you digestive system.

Classes are going great, both at River Tree Yoga and at Village Green Yoga.  Each studio is dedicated to the wellness of our bodies and our souls and our communities.  This is a mighty combination, leading to healing and inspiration for all of us.  So whether you want to do your yoga in the city or in the woods, drop in for a class or sign up for a series.  It will change your life for the better.  And be sure to mark your calendar for my next workshop at River Tree Yoga:

A Practice of Gratitude
